Saab joins ALTA as a new member

The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) is pleased to welcome Saab, a global defense and security company founded in Linköping, Sweden, in 1937.

Panama, April 18, 2023 - Saab is a leading provider of air traffic management solutions worldwide, with an extensive portfolio that includes surface movement radars, multilateration and vehicle trackers, as well as airport decision support tools.

Saab´s surveillance-based situation awareness platforms are deployed at more than 100 locations around the world, helping air navigation service providers, airport operators, and airlines to operate in a safe, predictable, and efficient manner.

Saab to help shape operational safety and efficiency in the region

"2023 is a year of many challenges, with inflation and very challenging operating costs. ALTA is at the disposal of the industry and the authorities to face these challenges together, set strategies and look for partners to accompany us in this flight, as Saab is doing from now on, especially in priority areas such as safety and efficiency. This year we will be pleased to have Saab at the 12th ALTA Pan American Aviation Safety & Ops Summit, to be held from June 12 to 14 in Santiago de Chile", Botelho emphasizes.

This conference's agenda, which brings together safety and operations professionals from different industry sectors such as airlines, manufacturers, civil aviation authorities, airports, air traffic control organizations, flight schools and associations, includes the annual ALTA Safety Committee meeting, as well as eight panels and presentations on topics such as safety performance and sustainability in the Latin American and Caribbean region, safety performance and sustainability, human factors, mental health, PA-RAS advances, to name a few. Likewise, topics such as safety updates in Chilean commercial aviation, infrastructure challenges in the region and the close relationship between automation and safety, a topic that places special emphasis on the technological evolution of aircraft, will be addressed.

Fuel and Sustainability Analyst

Aeronautical Engineer from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellin, with a distinguished track record in operations optimization and sustainability in the airline and automotive industry. She has a diverse background, with experience  quality assurance and operational management.  As part of the fuel team at Viva Air, she led initiatives that resulted in the reduction of CO2 emissions, SAF tracking and fuel efficiency management. Currently, her focus is on developing innovative solutions to promote the circular economy and achieve sustainability objectives through the implementation of key performance indicators and strategic tracking of environmental goals.
