ALTA NEWS - Rio de Janeiro to host over 2,000 business meetings in the aviation sector

Did you know that 340,000 parts from around 400 suppliers are used to build a large aircraft? Aircraft are complex machines, where the most significant elements, such as the engine and wing sections, can comprise hundreds of thousands of individual parts. Recognizing the importance of this for operational efficiency and safety, the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) is organizing the region's largest forum on the subject. The event promotes nearly 2,000 mini-meetings with the participation of close to 500 executives from 240 supplier companies, as well as 132 representatives from 34 different airlines.

From June 3 to 5, Rio de Janeiro will host the most popular event in the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) and technical procurement sector in Latin America and the Caribbean: the ALTA CCMA & MRO 2024 conference. The event will bring together 700 participants and is expected to generate an estimated economic impact of more than US million for the city, encompassing direct, indirect, and catalytic effects.

“ALTA CCMA & MRO is a crucial conference for aviation in Latin America and the Caribbean, offering a great opportunity to establish significant business relationships within the aviation market, leading to efficiency and opportunities for the region,” says Santiago Valencia, ALTA's MRO Director and chair of the event.

During the three-day event, the program will also include talks by experts in the aeronautical sector, who will discuss solutions to enhance efficiency and foster sector development, as well as the social and economic impact on societies. “It is an opportunity to foster relationships and drive transactions. We offer a unique format by holding more than 2,000 meetings between airlines and suppliers, in addition to providing an academic agenda that keeps the sector up to date with the latest developments,” says ALTA CEO and Executive Director José Ricardo Botelho.

In 2023, almost 110 million passengers will be transported in Brazil's domestic and international markets. With 768 aircraft, the country boasts the largest fleet in Latin America and the Caribbean, representing a significant market with vast untapped potential.

Agenda Highlights

José Ricardo Botelho and Santiago Valencia Rodriguez will inaugurate the event, which has a tradition spanning more than 60 years. One of the highlights is the presentation by Carlos Garcia, a partner at Oliver Wyman, who will deliver the talk “Oliver Wyman's MRO Outlook for Latin America.”

Another key moment on the agenda is the panel “Girls with Goals: Increasing the Participation of Women in Aeronautical Maintenance in Latin America,” featuring Ana Maria Persiani (ALTA), Michelle Linale (Thales), Veronica Klein (Safran Cabin), and Santiago Valencia (ALTA).

Subsequently, Jeff Nixon (Proponent), Fernando Miwa (GOL), and Wilmer López (AJW Group) will discuss challenges and innovative solutions in the supply chain. The day will conclude with the panel “MRO in Brazil: Challenges and Opportunities,” presented by Luiz Froes (GE Aerospace), followed by a gala dinner and the presentation of the CCMA & MRO awards to the best suppliers.

The main sponsors of ALTA CCMA & MRO 2024 are Boeing, CFM, Collins Aerospace, Embraer, and Xpd Global. For more information, visit: https://alta.aero/ccma/2024/es/inicio/
