Message from the CEO | Peter Cerdá

I am thrilled to begin my role today as CEO of the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA),  while continuing my current responsibilities as International Air Transport Association (IATA)'s Regional Vice President for the Americas. I am deeply convinced that aviation is a cornerstone for the economic and social prosperity of our region, and ALTA plays a critical role in making air transport more accessible for all while addressing the unique needs of ALTA's member airlines based in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Air transport is a powerful enabler, connecting businesses across borders and fostering international collaboration. It invites travelers from around the globe to experience the unparalleled beauty of Latin America and the Caribbean, driving tourism and creating countless job opportunities. More than just a means of travel, aviation is a vital link that unites our communities, enhances connectivity, and opens doors to cultural exchange, economic growth, and social development.

ALTA's journey ahead is one of collaboration and innovation: By working hand in hand with airlines, governments, and industry partners, we will lobby and advocate for modernization of regulatory frameworks, boosting competitiveness, and enhancing our infrastructure to meet future demands. Sustainability will be our guiding principle, ensuring progress in harmony with the environment and tailored to our unique contexts.

I am immensely grateful for the trust placed in me by the Executive Committee and IATA to play this dual role. With a dedicated and talented team by my side, I am committed to leading this new chapter with passion and vision. Together, we will soar to new heights, creating a brighter, more connected future for air transport in Latin America and the Caribbean.
