Cancun, October 20, 2023 – 400 aviation industry leaders, including 40 airline CEOs will be gathering at the 19th ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum 2023, to be held October 22-24 in Cancun, Mexico.
The ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum, hosted by the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA), is the premier meeting in the region for commercial aviation leaders. The forum provides an environment for airline CEOs, airports, major suppliers, government representatives, media and high-level speakers to gather and discuss how to meet the current challenges facing the industry and how to prepare for the future of air transport.
The academic agenda includes a wide range of topics, such as the status of the industry, efficient regulations for the development of the sector in the region, sustainability and connectivity opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean for the benefit of users. This discussion, which covers a couple of days, includes a panel on the future of air cargo in Latin America as well as an update on infrastructure, investments and measures necessary for aviation to reach its great potential.
"The ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum is a well-established and important event for aviation in the region. It is an opportunity for industry leaders to gather and set the direction for the future of the sector. Collaborative work is a maxim to ensure that the region continues to make progress in terms of more efficient regulations that will generate direct benefits for users and the population through the creation of millions of jobs and opportunities," the environment, technological advancement and many other important topics. This year we have participants from 40 different countries and 210 organizations," said José Ricardo Botelho, ALTA's Executive Director & CEO.
The central topic of the ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum 2023 focuses on smart regulation and development for inclusion. "At ALTA we understand inclusion as a core of our mission: aviation is a means of transport that results in social inclusion, allowing more people to access the safest and most efficient transport possible, enabling the development of employment and opportunities, allowing more people to access the goods they need (even during the pandemic, when aviation was the only means capable of delivering vaccines and essential supplies), allowing people of any culture, gender and preference to join our teams and much more," Botelho highlights.
"The needs and preferences of air transport users are changing faster and faster. Market dynamics and macroeconomics are changing, so the region needs smart regulation to keep the industry viable and enable growth. At the forum we will discuss about how the sector is prepared to grow and include more users in the region, but also about the work needed to achieve it," he adds.
A new feature of the ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum will be the award ceremony for the "Periodismo de Altura" award to four journalists who have developed high-level informative materials on the aviation sector, who were chosen by a competent judging panel of industry and communications experts. The winners will be announced at the gala dinner on Monday, October 23.
"This year we will have a very special event. We appreciate the participation of all the executives present who dedicate their time to this event that sets the tone for the roadmap that will make Latin America and the Caribbean an increasingly competitive and prosperous region for the safest and most efficient means of transport," Botelho adds.
