Panama October 10, 2022 - The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) welcomes the incorporation as a new member airline of Sunrise Airways, an operator of commercial and charter flights, founded in Haiti n 2010 and began operations on December 12 of, 2012.

Sunrise Airways is recognized as the leading airline in Haiti and, in addition to its domestic flights, operates to Santo Domingo/El Higuero, in the Dominican Republic, Havana, and Santiago de Cuba, in Cuba.

The company, founded by pilot Captain Philippe Bayard also specialized in passenger charter flights and aircraft wet leasing.

“We are delighted to welcome Sunrise Airways to ALTA as it represents a new rapprochement with the Caribbean countries, where we have been working to continue improving the conditions that allow greater connectivity, greater flow of passengers, and more development. The Caribbean has unique paradisiacal destinations in the world, with culture, entertainment, and spectacular weather. For ALTA, the development of air transport in the Caribbean is a priority, where more than 80% of tourists arrive by air, tourists that generate more than 15% of jobs in the region and a fundamental contribution to the socioeconomic well-being of the population”, comments José Ricardo Botelho, executive director and CEO of ALTA.

“On behalf of our Company, I am pleased and proud that SUNRISE AIRWAYS is now a member of the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association, ALTA, the most important Airline Organization in the Caribbean/Latin American region. Our industry constantly evolves, and strategic, economic, and technological issues are constantly imposing new rules. Access to information and exchanges between the different aviation leaders in our sector are vital assets in this geopolitical environment,” says Philippe BAYARD, President and CEO.

Precisely, Sunrise Airways is expanding its horizons and contributing to connectivity and just signed an interline agreement code with Air Caraïbes, which allows passengers from the Haitian provinces to easily connect with Paris, France. This agreement, in the words of Philippe Bayard, will help the airline to continue developing a comprehensive air network that is aimed at benefiting members of the Caribbean community and its population.

Currently, this airline operates its domestic flights on Jetstream 32 and Embraer 120 from Port-au-Prince to Les Cayes with three daily flights, Cap-Haitien with two daily flights, and Jeremie with seven weekly flights.

It is also operating international flights, twice a day to the Dominican Republic and, for now, twice a week to Cuba (soon, six flights per week)
