Stories that Elevate the Region
ALTA presents the 3rd edition of its Journalism Award
August 1, 2025

Panama, August 1, 2025 - With a strategic role in the integration and development of Latin America, the air transport sector is the protagonist of stories that deserve to be told. For this reason, ALTA (Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association) is pleased to announce the opening of registrations for the third edition of its Journalism at Altitude Award. The initiative seeks to recognize and encourage high-quality reports that address the challenges, advances, and impact of commercial aviation on the daily lives and economies of the region.
According to Peter Cerdá, CEO of ALTA, the award serves as an important bridge between society, decision-makers, and the aviation sector , an industry that is essential to the region’s economy. “Aviation is a strategic driver of development and integration in Latin America and the Caribbean. It connects people, promotes true inclusion, and paves the way for the socio-economic growth of our countries. That’s why it’s so important to increase understanding of this sector, the challenges it faces, and the opportunities it creates. And that is exactly what we aim to recognize and celebrate with this award.”
In this third edition, the award includes a single category, focused on the competitiveness of the air transport sector: how it is possible to drive industry development by identifying areas that still require improvement, such as costs, taxes and fees, infrastructure, accessibility, among others.
A jury composed of industry executives will select two winners, who will receive a trip to participate in the awards ceremony, which will take place on Monday, October 21, in Lima, Peru, during the 21st ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum.
The contest rules are available here: https://alta.aero/en/2025-periodismo-de-altura-award/. Registrations must be submitted exclusively through the website, between August 1 and September 1, 2025.
