Dear Colleagues,
On this International Civil Aviation Day, we send a warm and special greeting to the executives of the 157 ALTA member companies, whose contributions, participation, exchange of ideas, and collaborative work promote the development of a safer, more efficient, and sustainable aviation in Latin America and the Caribbean. As well as authorities, organizations, and industry representatives in the region.
LAC shows the best passenger recovery indexes worldwide, and statistics indicate good future prospects. However, there are significant challenges in terms of costs, regulations, socio-political context, infrastructure and capacity, talent attraction, training, and diversity, to name a few, that we must address for aviation to reach its great potential in the region and continue offering more options for more and more people in more and more places.
From ALTA, on this International Civil Aviation Day, we reiterate the relevance of air transport as an essential and socially responsible service for Latin America and the Caribbean, a region where there is no more efficient and safer alternative than aviation.
We reaffirm our commitment to promoting State Agendas in all the countries of the region that bring together the public and private sectors with a technical work plan for the promotion of a fundamental industry with a powerful catalytic effect on society.
Therefore, we take the lead from the UN, whose Agenda 2030 has embraced a new era focused on sustainable development and on highlighting the significance of aviation as an engine of global connectivity relevant to achieving the aims of the Chicago Convention to look at international flight as a fundamental enabler of world peace and prosperity.
We join the motto "Fostering innovation for global aviation development" and reaffirm our mission to generate technical dialogues that drive civil aviation growth sustainably and promote opportunities for diversification and inclusion in the industry.
Happy day to all those who, from their professional role, make it possible that, with every plane that takes off, millions of opportunities also take off and that, with every plane that lands, hugs and shared happiness are found!
