From September 20 to 22, Ecuador will host over a hundred representatives from the legal areas of air service providers and the main law firms of the American continent, within the framework of the international conference ALTA Aviation Law Americas 2023. This meeting is held to share points of view on aeropolitical matters, legal and financial challenges and best practices faced by the aviation industry in the region.
The Minister of Tourism, Niels Olsen, pointed out that this conference is an opportunity to address issues of interest on the development of the industry. “For Ecuador, it will be a space to make known the progress in the generation of policies to drive air connectivity for tourism aims,” he said, mentioning actions such as the elimination of the ISD charge for airlines, the reduction of Eco Delta and Potencia Turística contribution rates, the signing of Open Skies agreements with the United States and Panama.
ALTA's Executive Director & CEO, José Ricardo Botelho, highlighted that bringing the conference to Ecuador sets an important milestone in a year when the country has taken smart and effective measures to encourage the development of the aviation sector for the benefit of Ecuadorians. “Aviation is a powerful engine of socioeconomic growth, creating not only direct jobs in the industry, but activating an extensive value chain and opportunities that go through other industries such as construction, services, tourism, culture, food, to the daily life of a cab driver who waits for passengers at the airport, markets, handicrafts and much more. Wherever an aircraft lands, development arrives for everyone, that is why we are pleased to host this meeting in Ecuador and to witness the positive effect of works that are being carried out towards a smart regulatory framework. During the conference we will be discussing, among others, these issues and their status at regional level”:
Some of the topics that will be discussed during the three-day meeting are aviation regulations; climate change and sustainable practices; improving and promoting connectivity, to name a few.
This conference also becomes a platform to present Ecuador as an interesting destination for the development of air connectivity events.
The National Government encourages the development of events that promote the sharing of experiences to improve the competitiveness and connectivity of Ecuador to the world, and thus attract more visitors to our country.
