ALTA welcomes TAP Air Portugal

The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) is pleased to welcome TAP Air Portugal, Portugal leading airline, as an Associate Member.

Panama January 17, 2023 - The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) is pleased to welcome TAP Air Portugal, Portugal leading airline, as an Associate Member.

Founded in 1945, TAP is currently considered the fourth largest airline in Brazil, with 1.5 million passengers carried to and from the country in 2022.

TAP carries millions of passengers to over 80 destinations worldwide and in addition to the 77 weekly flights on 13 unique routes the company offers between Portugal and Brazil, in South America and Caribbean, TAP also operates to Caracas and Cancun. Its network of routes, offers easy and fast connections at its hub in Lisbon, the airline has established itself as an excellent choice for connecting to Europe.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, TAP operates non-stop flights from Portugal to Brazil, Mexico and Venezuela. In Brazil, the airline has already reached 90% of capacity compared to the period before the pandemic.

It currently has direct flights from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belém, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Fortaleza, Natal, Maceió, Porto Alegre, Recife and Salvador, as well as connecting Porto to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. In total, TAP connects 11 cities in Brazil directly to Europe.

Operating a modern fleet of A330-neo and A321LR on its long-haul routes and using Lisbon's privileged geographical position as a hub, TAP serves over 80 destinations in the Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

TAP Air Portugal is a member of Star Alliance since 2005, awarded by WTA as the safest airline in Europe (Airline Ratings) and the World's Leading Airline to South America in 2022 (seven consecutive years).
