ALTA NEWS - ALTA announces the opening of registration for the 2nd edition of the ALTA – Periodismo de Altura Award

April 10, 2024 - The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announces the opening of registration for the ALTA – Periodismo de Altura Award. The contest, now in its second edition, aims at recognizing the journalistic work of professionals from Latin America and the Caribbean who have produced and published articles on the impact of the aviation industry on the countries and population in the region, highlighting the sector's contribution on ESG (Environment, Society and Governance) and its catalytic effect on the socio-economic development in the region.

"Through this award we want to recognize the people who keep us informed, who contribute to a greater understanding of an essential economic sector by distributing information on a timely and well-founded basis. Together we want to contribute to society, as well as to public and private sector leaders, to have a more comprehensive view of the industry advances and the importance of this activity for the economy, politics and culture of the countries," said ALTA's CEO, José Ricardo Botelho.

The contest seeks articles addressing key sustainability and governance issues in the aviation sector, highlighting aspects such as human resources management policies, inclusion and diversity, as well as the social and environmental value of aviation. Competitiveness analyses, including passenger traffic growth, smart regulatory policies and identifying barriers to growth, such as high operating costs and infrastructure saturation, will also be judged.

Applications can be submitted between April 10, 2024 and August 10, 2024. The award is open to professionals from Latin America and the Caribbean working in print and digital media (newspaper, website, blog, YouTube, magazine or news portal).

The prize includes a trip including paid flight and hotel to attend the awards ceremony in Nassau, Bahamas, on October 29, 2024, during the premier conference for aviation leaders in Latin America and the Caribbean - the ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum - attended by over 300 industry decision-makers, including around 50 airline CEOs. First place will receive a cash prize and second place a smartphone, in addition to the trip.

Participation is only possible by registering at https://alta.aero/en/2024-periodismo-de-altura-award/. Each participant must fill out the form available on ALTA's website and include the published material, with the author's name, media, date and place of publication.

The articles will be evaluated by the contest jury, which will score them according to four criteria: appropriateness to the topic, technical quality, originality and clarifying and innovative approach to the topic.

The first edition held in 2023 recorded 68 applications from representatives of 12 countries. Don't miss the opportunity to participate in the 2nd ALTA – Periodismo de Altura Award, and opt for this exclusive award. Register now: https://alta.aero/en/2024-periodismo-de-altura-award/
