October 27, 2025 – The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA), together with the region’s leading airlines, presented at the ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum in Lima the progress of the study “Regional Roadmap for Aviation Emission Reduction.”

Developed by ICF as a specialized consultant, the roadmap analyzes how to advance toward the global decarbonization goals of the aviation industry in Latin America and the Caribbean, while continuing to foster the region’s air connectivity.

The project, based on scientific evidence and multisector dialogue, aims to enrich informed decision-making and emission reduction strategies tailored to local realities, aligning global goals with each country’s challenges and opportunities.

At ALTA, we have taken the initiative to contribute to the discussion on how to move forward in emission reduction through solutions grounded in technical evidence and adapted to the realities of our region. Latin America depends on air transport for its connectivity, and it is essential to balance this need with environmental commitments, said Roberto Alvo, Chairman of ALTA’s Executive Committee. The collaboration between industry and governments is essential to continue driving this shared agenda.

The technical analysis of the regional aviation emission reduction roadmap focuses on identifying cost-effective and feasible measures that can reduce emissions without compromising connectivity. Through a comprehensive evaluation of the measures, it considers economic, social, and environmental impacts, as well as the institutional and regulatory context of each country.
