Carlos Aya is the Sustainability Director at Abra Group, where he leads the integration of sustainability into business strategy and long term value creation. He brings more than two decades of international experience across sustainability, corporate affairs, above ground risk management, and business development. Carlos has held leadership roles in multicultural environments in the Netherlands, the United States, and throughout Latin America. His work centers on embedding sustainability into core decision-making, enabling organizations to align ESG stewardship with business performance. Passionate about advancing just energy transitions, Carlos has led high impact capital mobilization and socio economic development initiatives tailored to diverse regional contexts. His efforts have contributed to business growth, organizational resilience, emerging risk mitigation, environmental performance and community relations. A firm believer in collaboration as a catalyst for meaningful change, Carlos blends scientific insight, stakeholder perspectives, and market dynamics to design practical, future ready sustainability solutions. He holds a degree in Environmental Engineering, along with complementary training in environmental management and strategic project leadership. Outside of work, Carlos enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the outdoors.
