Captain Mark Diaz is a Boeing 787 and 737 type-rated Safety Pilot within Flight Technical & Safety. Prior to Boeing, Mr. Diaz heavily contributed to pilot training and standardization projects at Daher Aerospace, in France. Mark holds pilot licenses issued by FAA in the USA, CASA in Australia, and the DGAC in France. His airline flying includes being an A320 First Officer and B727 Flight Engineer at United Airlines as well as flying turbo-props for a regional airline in the USA.

Capt. Fernando Castillo, Director of Safety at Aerolíneas Argentinas, joined the company in 1998 as First Officer, flying different aircraft. He was promoted to Commander of Boeing, then Airbus and since 2012 he has held an executive role as Operational Safety Manager of Aerolíneas Argentinas.
He also represents the company in the SkyTeam and A-CAST (Argentina Civil Aviation Safety Team) Operational Safety Committees.

Mr. Hernan Pasman has been the Chief Operating Officer of LATAM Airlines Group since October, 2015. He joined LAN Airlines in 2005 as the Head of Strategic Planning and Financial Analyses for the technical areas. Between 2007 and 2010, Mr. Pasman was the Chief Operating Officer of LAN Airlines Argentina, then, in 2011 he served as Chief Executive Officer for LAN Airlines Colombia. Prior to joining the company, between 2001 and 2005, Mr. Pasman was a consultant at McKinsey & Company in Chicago. Between 1995 and 2001, Hernan held positions at Citicorp Equity Investments, Telefonica de Argentina and Motorola Argentina. Mr. Enrique Rosende Alba is 69 years old. He is the Safety & Security Corporate Director for LATAM Airlines Group since 2009.
Before entering Lan, he works in the Chilean Air Force for 37 years. He served as Head of the Education Division and Director General of Civil Aviation in Chile from 2002 to 2006. During the year 2007 -2008, he was the Vice President of the Latin American Aviation Commission.
He graduated as Aeronautical Systems Engineer at the Air War College. Mr. Rosende holds degrees in Political Philosophy, Human Resources Administration, Military Sciences and Administration and Planning of Airport Systems.
Elizabeth Mathews is an Associate Professor in ERAU’s Aviation Safety Program. She is an Applied Linguist, with a background in Teaching English as a Second Language. She has focused on language issues in aviation since 1994 when she joined the Embry-Riddle Language Institute. From 2001 to 2004, she served as Linguistic Consultant to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) during the development of ICAO Language Standards.
Currently, she teaches, researches, publishes and speaks on Language as a Human Factor in Aviation and is Senior Advisor to the new Embry-Riddle Department of Aviation English.

Industrial Civil Engineer with a specialization in Transportation and a Master’s degree in Engineering Sciences from Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. With 28 years of experience in the transportation sector, I have worked in various consulting firms and have had multiple opportunities to work at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications of Chile (MTT).
During the second term of Sebastián Piñera, I served as Chief of Advisors at the MTT (under Minister Gloria Hutt), where I was actively involved in the strategic design and coordination of the public transportation bidding processes in Santiago and the introduction of electromobility in the country. During this period, I represented the MTT in the development of national sustainability and climate change policies and strategies promoted by the Ministries of Environment and Energy. Between 2019 and March 2022, I was a member of the Civil Aeronautics Board (JAC).

Juan Esteban Kappaz is an Airbus A32s Captain with almost 20 years of professional flight experience and lawyer by profession.
He is currently the Director of Flight Operations at Avianca Group International Limited and he is responsible of ensuring safe and efficient flight operations, in accordance with the different Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) and in compliance with applicable regulations and standards, ensuring the synergy between safety and operation.
Prior to this role, Juan served in leadership positions as a Chief Pilot and Pilot Crew Manager. At present, he also is an A320 family line pilot as well as Flight and Ground instructor.
Dave joined Boeing in 2010, coming from Universal Avionics and from a career in the U.S. Air Force as a C-17 pilot. In his role in Flight Deck, Dave is responsible for the development and engineering of flight deck features and designs, leading several technology development, certification, and safety enhancement initiatives for Boeing Commercial aircraft.
Dave is a systems engineer with a background in avionics specializing in equipment used for flight guidance, automatic flight, communications, navigation, surveillance and air traffic management. He focuses on flight deck operations, design philosophy, pilot functions and the human-machine interfaces for production, development and future aircraft. He drives flight deck product strategy and capabilities that allow the pilot to accomplish their tasks as efficiently and safely as possible.
Dave has 31 years of experience in the aviation industry including 3800 international air transport flying hours in the United States Air Force as Boeing C-17A instructor/evaluator pilot.
Dave is the International Coordinating Committee of Aerospace Industries Association (ICCAIA) member and vice chairman to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Instrument Flight Procedures Panel and the member to the ICAO Performance-Based Navigation Study Group. He is a member of the SAE S-7 Flight Deck Handling Qualities Standards for Transport Aircraft committee.
Dave has lived in many locations, but calls Seattle home. He is a United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, retired. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering. He also has a Master of Science from the University of Washington in Aeronautical Engineering.
Dave has responsibility for Flight Deck & Pilot Integration Architecture focusing on flight deck functionality and integration of the pilot with the machine.
CANADA CIVIL AVIATION
Patrick Juneau has been in role of Director, Safety Policy and Intelligence for Civil Aviation in Canada since early 2018. Over his career, he has worked in a number of areas including energy policy, strategic policy, national security and intelligence policy, and safety policy.
Today, Patrick’s mandate includes overseeing aviation policy as it pertains to the civil aviation system in areas such as: aerodrome development, cybersecurity, commercial space launch, Safety Management Systems, accident investigations, industry-government collaboration, and strategic safety risk management. Furthermore, he also works on international engagement with ICAO on issues such as PS752, water aerodromes, and other issues writ large.
Patrick holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry, a Bachelors of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering, and his graduate studies are in Systems Science.
Riccardo holds a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering and before joining ATR has accumulated over ten years of experience in aviation industry. He worked as system engineer in Blue Panorama Airlines and subsequently as reliability engineer in Alenia Aermacchi (Leonardo) for advanced military jet trainer M-346 program. He has held the position of head of engineering in Poste Air Cargo before joining ATR Americas in Miami in 2016 as Customer Support Director. Since June 2019 Riccardo works as VP Technical Support and Regional Flight Safety Manager in ATR Americas.
Commander Sergio Carter graduated from the Naval Academy on January 1, 1999.
Since 2005 he is a specialist in Submarine Warfare and has been part of the crew of the Chilean submarines “Simpson”, “Thomson” and the “General Carrera”, completing four deployments to the U.S. west coast, sailing submerged from the demanding southern waters of the Drake Passage up to the coast of California in the northern Pacific Ocean
He holds a Master’s degree in naval and maritime sciences from the Chilean Naval War College, a Master’s degree in operations research from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso and a diploma in high military studies from the French Joint War College, Ecole de Guerre.
Following the earthquake and tsunami that affected the central coast of Chile on February 27, 2010, he served as General Coordinator of the Special Task Force in charge of the recovery of the land infrastructure of the Talcahuano Naval Base.
In 2018 he served as Commander of the Landship “Elicura”.
The years 2021 and 2022 he commanded the scorpene class submarine “General Carrera”, completing more than 26.000 nautical miles and 235 days deployed.
Since January 2023 he serves as head of the submarine sea training command.
Dr. Penny M. Giovanetti, D.O., is the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Director of the Medical Specialties Division in the Office of Aerospace Medicine. She provides expert advice and technical knowledge to the Federal Air Surgeon, Deputy Federal Air Surgeon, Director of the Civil Aerospace Medical Institute, and to other physicians and professionals throughout the FAA and the Department of Transportation. She directs aerospace medicine policy development, manages the medical appeals process, oversees departmental medical review officer services, administers the FAA’s employee drug and alcohol testing programs, and is responsible for the evaluation and management of complex psychiatric cases and issues. She is responsible for developing policies and standards with respect to the Air Traffic Controller Health Program, overseeing aerospace medicine research projects, and representing the Federal Air Surgeon with governmental and non-governmental organizations on a variety of national and international aerospace medicine activities and projects.
Prior to her current position, Dr. Giovanetti was Manager of the Medical Officer Branch at the Civil Aerospace Medical Institute, in Oklahoma City, OK, where she supervised nine medical certification physicians.
Previously, Dr. Giovanetti retired as a Colonel after a distinguished career in the United States Air Force (USAF), where she served on the staffs of the Tactical Air Command Surgeon and USAF Surgeon General, as well as Cadet Clinic Commander at the USAF Academy, CO; Group Commander at McGuire Air Force Base, NJ; Ramstein AB, Germany; and USAF Medical Center at Wright Patterson AFB, in Dayton, Ohio. She was also the Vice Wing Commander of the 311th Human Systems Wing at Brooks AFB in San Antonio, TX. She logged over 1,000 flight surgeon hours in a wide variety of military aircraft and is a licensed private pilot.
Dr. Giovanetti is board certified in Aerospace Medicine, Occupational Medicine, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Biology from Stanford University; Master of Science in Environmental Health and Preventive Medicine from the University of Iowa; Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College, Washington D.C.; a Doctorate from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, Des Moines University, Iowa. She also holds a certificate in health care management from Georgetown University.
Gerardo Hueto is a member of the FAA Aviation Safety Organization, in the Office of Accident Investigation and Prevention. He works with the Commercial Aviation Safety Team (CAST) and the Aviation Safety Information and Sharing System (ASIAS) to develop data driven safety enhancements for the National Aviation System (NAS) of the United States. He is involved in the effort to proactively identify emerging or future safety risks and evaluate possible risk management initiatives. He also leads CAST international safety outreach initiatives in coordination with ICAO’s Regional Aviation Safety Groups. Gerardo was also a member of the US National Academy of Sciences Aviation Safety Assurance Committee.
Prior to joining the FAA he was Assistant Director, Safety and Flight Operations at the IATA Asia Pacific Office in Singapore. He led the development and implementation of regional Safety Enhancement initiatives for air carriers, States, and service providers in the region.
Prior to joining IATA, he was Chief Engineer, Aviation System Safety at Boeing Commercial Airplanes. He coordinated Boeing’s Aviation Safety initiatives with Regulators and Industry in the United States and worldwide. Gerardo represented Boeing at the US Commercial Aviation Safety Team (CAST) and the Steering Committees of ICAO’s regional safety initiatives in Asia and the Americas.
Gerardo is an Aeronautical Engineer and has a Masters in Management. Prior to working at Boeing, he was Director of Fleet Safety and Quality Assurance at Alaska Airlines. In addition, Gerardo has managed Engineering groups at Bombardier and McDonnell Douglas, worked as a performance engineer, and participated in NTSB accident investigations. Gerardo was an Aviation Safety Management instructor at the University of Southern California Aviation Safety and Security Program from 2008 until 2016.
Peter Cerdá is the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Regional Vice President for the Americas. Globally, IATA represents some 290 airlines or 83% of total air traffic, supporting many areas of aviation activity and helping to formulate industry policy on critical aviation issues.
Based in Miami, Mr. Cerdá oversees 35 countries with 48 member airlines across North and South America, and the Caribbean, driving IATA’s global standards and international perspective to deliver maximum value to the safe, sustainable and profitable development of aviation across the region.
He advocates with Government authorities, safety regulators, airports, and industry stakeholders to create a common approach to utilize aviation as an engine of economic growth and social development, which drives nearly USD$1.3 trillion in GDP and generates 16.4 million jobs in the Americas Region.
Mr. Cerdá is also IATA’s major shareholder for Cargo Network Services (CNS) in the United States, and a member of the Executive Boards of Colombia’s Air Transport Association (ATAC) and Mexico’s National Chamber of Air Transport (CANAERO).
Mr. Cerdá possesses a wealth of industry experience acquired over 30 years in aviation. He has worked in various functions for IATA and started his aviation career with Iberia Airlines prior to joining IATA in 1996. Fluent in English and Spanish, Mr. Cerdá was born in Spain and received his master’s degree in Aeronautics and Aviation Management from Embry Riddle University in the United States
Mr. Cesar Mac-Namara, a Chilean national, is a retired General of the Chilean Air Force with over 3,500 flight hours mainly in combat aircraft. He is an Aeronautical Systems Engineer from the Air Force and has a Master’s degree in Military Administration Sciences. He also has a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from Gabriela Mistral University and a diploma in Public Health Administration from the University of Chile. He graduated from the Executive Course on Security and Defense at Harvard University with studies in Effective Negotiation.
Mr. Mac-Namara’s professional experience includes several high-ranking positions in the Chilean Air Force (FACH), the Ministry of Defense, and the Chilean Aeronautics, including his role as head of various defense projects for technological development and system acquisition. In 2013, he was the head of the Air Operations Department of the FACH War Academy. In 2014, he was the Director of the Strategic and Space Studies Center of the FACH, and in 2015-16, he served as Chile’s Representative to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). After completing his work as Chile’s Representative to the ICAO Council, Mr. Mac-Namara was a Strategic and Operations Advisor to the Planning Director of the Chilean Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) and Head of the CORSIA Implementation Project of the DGAC of Chile.
In April 2018, he was appointed as Director of Operational Safety of the DGAC, retaining his position as responsible for the CORSIA project in Chile.
Since July 2016, Mr. Ortiz has been CEO of the ultra low cost airline -part of the airline portfolio of Indigo Partners- since inception, and has been responsible for all aspects of the new airline’s operations to date. JetSMART Airines was founded in July 2016 and operated its inaugural flight in July 2017, serves domestic markets in Chile, Argentina and Peru, as well as international services to Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay and Colombia. Currently operates a fleet of 23 Airbus A320 and A321, one of the youngest fleet in the Americas has more than 100 aircraft on order to reach to 100 million passengers transported by 2028. To date it has carried more than 16 million passengers and has been the most reliable and punctual airlines in their markets, and received the SKYTRAX award as the best Low Cost Airline in South America in 2021.
For the previous eleven years, he has served in senior management positions in the airline industry in Latin America. Most recently as Executive Vice-president and Chief Revenue Officer in Avianca Holdings, from 2011 to 2016. (NYSE: AVH). During his tenure, he led the growth of the network and the development of the business units; he served as member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors; as well as led he Lifemiles and Cargo Business Units. Mr. Ortiz conducted the integration of TACA and Avianca into the second largest aviation group in the region and leading them into a single airline and an active member of Star Alliance. Before that served as VP Sales, VP Commercial, Chief Operating Officer and appointed President in TACA Airlines from 2005 to 2010.
Mr. Ortiz also has experience in the consumer goods industry, as he had an international career at Philip Morris International & Kraft Foods, across several countries in Latin America; mainly as Managing Director in several markets and head of Commercial for Latin America & Canada based at the New York HQ.
Mr. Ortiz graduated with honors as Chemical & Industrial Engineering at Universidad Rafael Landivar; and an MBA with specialization in Productivity at Universidad Francisco Marroquin; executive programs at Harvard Business School, Kellogg School of Management and Darden School of Business.
Robert L. Sumwalt is Executive Director of the Boeing Center for Aviation and Aerospace Safety at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he also serves as Distinguished Fellow in Aviation Safety. In that role, he oversees research and development of the Center, and sets the overall strategy. He also serves as aviation safety analyst for CBS News.
Previously, Sumwalt served as Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Member of the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), where he served from August 2006 to June 2021.
Sumwalt was a pilot for 32 years, including 24 years with a major US-based international airline.
In recognition of his contributions to the aviation industry, in September 2021, Sumwalt was awarded the Flight Safety Foundation – Boeing Aviation Safety Lifetime Achievement Award. He also received the Flight Safety Foundation’s Laura Taber Barbour Award in 2003 and ALPA’s Air Safety Award in 2005. He is an inductee into the South Carolina Aviation Hall of Fame.
Melissa Leach (who goes by Mel) currently oversees American’s company-wide Safety Management System as well as its Emergency Planning & Response program.
Prior to this role, she worked in Airport Operations where she led teams responsible for Agent, Ramp, Cargo, and Control Center policy & procedure. Mel joined American in 2011 and has also worked in Corporate Purchasing, Airport Planning & Analysis, and Reservations. She received her bachelor’s degree in International Business, Finance, and Latin American Studies from San Diego State University and her MBA in Value & Supply Chain Management from Texas Christian University.
Before joining American, Mel worked in proposal development for a defense contractor as well as for a non-profit organization focused on international diplomacy. Outside of work, her hobbies include keeping up with youth sports, cooking, and practicing yoga.
Alfonso Arroyo is the new EASA’s representative for Latin America and the Caribbean. Alfonso is seconded from the European Commission and joined EASA in June 2022 and established in Panama City where the EASA’s Regional Office is hosted.
The main objective of Alfonso’s engagement is to further strengthen the partnership between EASA and the civil aviation authorities and industry stakeholders in the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region. His work on the spot should facilitate an increasing awareness of the EU/EASA regulatory framework. He is also responsible, in close coordination with the headquarters’ International Coordination Department, for the implementation of the new project ‘EU-Latin America and the Caribbean Cooperation on Civil Aviation (EU-LAC APP2)’ which started end of 2022 with the objective to reinforce the role of the EU aviation safety system through continued and new partnerships with LAC key partner countries and stakeholders.
Alfonso has worked for the European Commission since 1997, having a long experience in international negotiations during his service in DG TRADE and in DG NEAR (ex-ELARG) where he was subsequently responsible for negotiations in the WTO context, antidumping investigations and negotiations of accession of the new ten EU Member States. He started his duties in DG MOVE in the Air Transport Directorate in 2005 being responsible for the international aspects of the European ATM policy called the Single European Sky. He’s been working since 2010 on aviation safety where he coordinated in DG MOVE a wide range of activities with EASA, from regulatory proposals, technical assistance programming, international strategies, and administrative and budgetary issues. He had a key role as Secretary and coordinator of the so-called EASA Committee and the Expert Group for delegated acts, where most of the EU Regulations on aviation safety were discussed and adopted. He also coordinated with EASA’s teams the standardization inspections and audits to 46 European States to verify the correct implementation of European aviation safety regulatory framework. Finally, he represented the European Commission in the EASA consultative bodies with national aviation authorities and industry.

Graduated in Civil Aviation Management, Master of Business Administration (FGV) and postgraduate in Aviation Management by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Gandini has more than 10 years of experience in management positions including Flight Standards, Quality, Crew Planning and Scheduling.
Currently, Gandini holds the position of Executive Manager of Line Maintenance and Engineering, responsible for GOL’s 121 Maintenance Operations including the Maintenance Operation Control Center (MOCC) and Engineering activities.
The Boeing Company
Lacey Pittman is the vice president of Global Aerospace Safety Initiatives (GASI) at The Boeing Company.
In this newlyformed role, Pittman collaborates with Boeing and industry stakeholders and leads an Integrated Product Team to improve aerospace safety through several key initiatives. These initiatives include partnering with airline customers to ensure delivery and operational readiness, improving training standards and harmonizing regulatory training guidance, maturing Global Engagement Pilot efforts, and working with Boeing Commercial Airplanes and Boeing Test & Evaluation to define horizons for future design of airplanes and airspace.
Pittman has more than 20 years of flight operational experience. Before joining Boeing, Pittman was responsible for Air Safety and Operations at Amazon Air, including the operations technology portfolio and leadership of the global network operations center. Prior to that Pittman was managing director of System Operations Control and Safety at Horizon Air, leading the implementation of the airline’s Safety Management System. Pittman began her aviation career as a pilot for AirServ International, working under contract with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to provide aid and relief to developing countries throughout West Africa. She later joined the organization’s Board of Directors. Currently, she is chair of the board of directors safety committee at Mission Aviation Fellowship, a not-for-profit global aviation organization.
Pittman maintains a type rating for the Q400 and has accumulated more than 3,500 hours of flying time.

David Galvez is a civil engineer by profession and currently holds the position of Senior Manager of Operational Safety and Internal Control at SKY Airline, a position he has held for the past 7 years.
Throughout his professional career, he has held various positions in the aviation industry for more than 18 years, and currently leads the design and implementation of the comprehensive risk management model with a focus on operational risk and safety for SKY Airline.
José Ignacio Dougnac is a commercial engineer by profession with a master’s degree and an MBA in finance. He is currently the CEO of SKY Airline, a company he has been a part of for seven years. During his career, he served as CFO for four years, during which he led key projects such as the fleet renewal and international expansion of SKY.
Today, he leads the growth and regionalization strategy of the airline. Under his leadership, SKY has been recognized as the best low-cost airline in South America by the international company Skytrax and has had the newest fleet in America for three consecutive years according to CH-Aviation. The airline currently flies to 26 domestic and 11 international destinations and seeks to continue growing to fulfill its purpose of making the sky accessible to everyone.
Captain Reyné O’ Shaughnessy served as commercial airline pilot for over 34 years for a Fortune 50 company and has logged over 10,000 hours in total heavy jet time in Boeing 747, Boeing 727, Airbus 300/310, and Boeing 757/767. Notably, thirty four years ago Reyne was one of the first women Boeing 747 qualified.
Captain O’Shaughnessy is the founder of Piloting 2 Wellbeing and recently co-found Aviation Health and Wellbeing Institute. Both organizations are founded on the premise that they focus on providing a new vision of aviation safety, performance, and learning.
Her mission is to help pilots and aviation students navigate the regulated system of aviation in order to keep them flying healthy and her key focus is working on ensuring that aviation professionals know how to balance their physical & mental health.
She is a visionary leader who brings a clear idea of how the future of mental health and performance in aviation should look.
Captain O has over a decade of experience as a health and wellbeing strategist with a particular focus on mindfulness-based training. She has earned a teaching certification from Brown University in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) in addition to BS in leadership (Phi Kappa Phi) and an Executive Certificate in Business from UC Berkeley. She is a certified health coach graduate from the accredited Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMC).
Having traveled the globe repeatedly, Reyne’s place in the world is with her family, spending time on the east and west coast of the US. She enjoys gardening, meditation, and the love of learning.
Julia Behrend is a psychologist and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience affiliated with the Laboratoire de Neurosciences Cognitives, Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris. She is the Head of Safety Innovation & Human Performance at Air France’s Flight Safety Department. Passionate about the complexity of human behavior and technology in aviation, her current role is to ensure an up-to-date understanding of human factors implied in flight safety.
Dr. Behrend completed her doctoral dissertation in collaboration with Air France, investigating how personality, habits, hierarchy, and role influenced pilot decision-making under uncertainty. In particular, Julia applies findings from aviation psychology, cognitive science, and neuroergonomics to safety for a better understanding of human performance in high-risk environments. Julia has authored or co-authored several research articles in international journals and shared the results with aviation authorities, manufacturers, and airlines. In addition, she serves as visiting lecturer at ISAE-SUPAERO in Toulouse.
Dr. Behrend earned her B.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Bremen in Germany. After two M.Sc. in Cognitive Neuroscience (Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris) and in Psychology (Paris Descartes University), she obtained her PhD from Sorbonne University in France.
Dr. Behrend is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal Aviation Psychology and Applied Human Factors and is a Board Member of the European Association for Aviation Psychology.
Captain Craig Hildebrandt, an Embry-Riddle graduate is currently the Senior Director Safety & Flight Operations Technical Affairs for Airbus Americas. In this position he provides Technical, Functional and Operational Aeronautical Expertise to customer airlines, regulatory agencies, investigative safety organizations and industry safety/technical working groups to enhance, promote and support Airbus in the Americas. Before joining Airbus he spent 37 years in air carrier operations at US Airways and JetBlue Airways. Craig served as a Check Airman at both carriers. At JetBlue Airways he served as an Assistant Chief Pilot, Airbus Fleet Captain and Director Flight Standards. Craig has accumulated 21,000+ hours of flight time with over 4,000 hours accumulated in Airbus aircraft. Recent flying is Airbus production test flights at the Mobile and Toulouse Final Assembly Lines. He is type rated in the A350, A330, A320, A220, ERJ190/170, FK100, B737 and BA-111 aircraft.
Bobbi Wells is Vice President of Safety Systems, Efficiency & Compliance where she oversees American’s safety systems with a focus on managing risk through design, science, and innovation. Bobbi serves as Director of Safety on our Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Operating Certificate. She also serves as the Chair for the Flight Safety Council, Industry Advisory Board for the Center for Aviation and Aerospace Safety for ERAU, and past-President for IAWA.
Previously, she served as Vice President of Safety and Airworthiness in Air Operations at FedEx Express where she led the carrier’s safety, airworthiness, and regulatory compliance through safety risk management, analytics, auditing, and culture development. In her more than 25-year career at FedEx Express, she led the airline’s business planning, quality and process improvement, trucking and pickup and delivery operations, communications, the worldwide air logistics system, and expense and capital control processes. Bobbi also received her FAA license as a dispatcher.
Prior to FedEx Express, Bobbi served in the U.S. Army as a transportation and logistics officer for more than 10 years, where she supported 30,000 troops while based in Germany.
Bobbi spends a lot of her time finding ways to support, care for, develop and advocate on behalf of women in aviation. She currently serves on the Board of Governors for the Flight Safety Foundation, the Department of Transportation’s Women in Aviation Advisory Board and as the President of the International Aviation Women’s Association. She is also a member of the MITRE Aviation Advisory Committee and Airlines for America Safety Council.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Memphis.
Aviation General Raúl Jorquera Conrads assumed the position of General Director of Civil Aviation on December 14, 2020.
General Jorquera was born in the city of Santiago, on June 1st 1964, and studied at Colegio San Marcos, in the city of Santiago.
In 1984 he entered the military Aviation School, graduating in December 1986. Upon being appointed Lieutenant of the Air Branch, in January 1987, he began his professional career as a combat pilot specializing in air transportation.
General Jorquera has vast experience as a transport pilot, accruing more than 5,200 flight hours in light and heavy transport aircraft, in which he carried out activities as an instructor; having carried out flight missions throughout continental, insular and Antarctic Chile. He has also undertaken international missions on logistics routes and humanitarian support.
He has developed educational activities in the classroom and as directive, mainly as a Military Academy Professor and as Director of the School of Special Skills, the latter, as the parent school dedicated to the technical training of its students in multiple areas, especially in the aeronautical field.
In terms of human resources, General Jorquera has served in various organizations as Commander in charge of units in the provinces, the central zone and Antarctica. His experience as Chief of Staff of the Personnel Command stands out.
During the academic field activities, General Jorquera attained a degree in Staff and Higher Command at the Air War Academy; he has a master’s degree in Human Resources Management from the Gabriela Mistral University. In addition, he is a specialist in advanced aerodynamics and a weapon specialist. He has a pedagogical training course and a degree in educational sciences.
During his military career he has held the following positions: Chief of Operations of Aviation Group No. 5. Chief of Operations and Staff of the Antarctic Air Base, later assuming the Command of said Air Base and the Command of the Antarctic Exploration Group N ° 19. Commander of Aviation Group No. 10. Director of the School of Specialties. Defense Attaché and Air Attaché in France. Chief of Staff of the Santiago Personnel Command. Director of International Relations.
Before assuming the Directorate of the DGAC, General Jorquera was fulfilling duties as Commander-in-Chief of the II Air Brigade of Santiago, Chile.
Patrice London has been working, as a performance Engineer, at Embraer since 2001. He was responsible for Stall Certification of E-Jets and in 2005/2006 he was the Technical Aeronautical Leader of E195. He was Aeronautical Engineer Supervisor in 2007/2009 and was member of the Performance Group at NTSB in the E170 overrun (Cleveland) investigation. He was Aeronautical Engineer Manager in 2010/2012 and was the Leader of the E175 Enhanced Aircraft.
Since 2013, he has been working at Technology Development and, since 2014, he is the Technical Leader of the Project E2TS (Embraer Enhanced Takeoff System). He is a co-author of some Patents related to Aircraft Automation and Performance.
Also, he has been working, since 2018, in a Doctorate Thesis at ITA (Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica), regarding the same subject (“Smart Automation: to Optimize Aircraft Performance and Improve Flight Safety”).
