Capt. Felipe Laorden, Director of Safety / Iberia
Captain Felipe Laorden Cantero currently serves as Director of Safety and Safety Manager Officer for both the Iberia Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and Approved Training Organization (ATO). With more than 12 years of experience within Iberia’s Safety Department, he has played a key role in the development and implementation of the airline’s safety strategies and risk management initiatives.
In addition to his responsibilities at Iberia, Captain Laorden serves as President of the Safety Committee of the Spanish Airline Association (ALA) and acts as Safety Advisor to Iberia Express. He is also an active member of several industry and regulatory groups, including the Expert Working Group on Cooperation in Incident Analysis of the Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA), the oneworld Safety Best Practices Group (SBPG), and the International Airlines Group (IAG) Senior Leadership Group.
A highly experienced aviation professional, Captain Laorden holds an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) and currently serves as a Line Training Captain on the Airbus A320 family fleet. Throughout his career, he has accumulated extensive operational experience flying McDonnell Douglas MD-87/88, Learjet, and Airbus A319, A320, A321, A330, A340, and A350 aircraft.
His background also includes significant experience as a flight instructor and examiner, combining operational expertise with a strong commitment to aviation safety, training excellence, and industry collaboration.
