Katherine Andrea Lemos, Ph.D.

Katherine A. Lemos, Ph.D., Principal and CEO of DaVinci Tech Performance LLC, is a life-long safety and operations expert bringing unique experience from both public and private sectors to human and organizational performance.
As a leader in accident investigation, human decision-making, and safety management systems, Dr. Lemos is known for her innovative approaches leveraging advances in analytics and technology to yield system performance.
Dr. Lemos currently works at the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in the newly formed Aviation Safety Management line of business. Prior to this, she served as Chairperson and CEO of the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB).
In earlier roles, she was a Director for Northrop Grumman’s Aerospace Sector leading research and program implementation of autonomous systems. She also served as a program manager in the Aircraft Certification and Aviation Safety lines of business at the FAA, and for the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) as a Senior Human Performance Investigator in Aviation Safety.
In academia, Dr. Lemos focused her research on decision-making in aviation and medical domains, studying the influence of information and technology to yield safe outcomes during risky, high-dynamic and uncertain conditions.
Dr. Lemos earned a B.B.A. from Belmont University, a M.S. from California Lutheran University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa, and continues as a teaching professor. She is a CFI-I and Commercial Pilot with Single- and Multi-Engine Land and Sea ratings.
